Learn with our great summer camps for all ages! From 27 June - 26 Aug, 3 to 10-year-olds can join the multi-sports summer camps to develop core skills, or join a specialised sports clinic in swimming, football, gymnastics, fencing or tennis to work on their technique. A special full-day camp with both sports and languages is offered as well. Students ages 4-13 can join a language camp in the morning and follow with a multi-sports camp in the afternoon for a full day of learning and fun!

School Bus Service: Half day camps school bus service is available for the courses start at 9am and end at 12nn at South Island School only, please click HERE for more detials


All enrolments for this bus service will need to be received by 10 am the Friday before classes begin (For week 2, the deadline is 30 June, 10 am). The exact pick-up and drop-off time to be finalised end of Friday before classes begin.

Planet Guardian Adventures

Lower Kindergarten: 3- 4 years
Upper Kindergarten: 4-5 years (Suitable for students transitioning to primary school)
Primary: 6-8 years


Join our Planet Guardian Adventures for four weeks of exciting quests, meeting different people in different places each time. This course uses drama, games, story books, art to develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills whilst broadening knowledge and experiences. With four weeks of programmes to choose from, students will embark on an exciting new adventure each week to meet a range of colourful characters such as....

Animal Wranglers - beware of the wild animals we’ll meet this week and avoid their bite, snap or sting; tame the lions in the circus as we join their fun and games under the big top.

Super Heroes - create your own superhero to join the team of Planet Guardians; use your new powers to save the world.

Fantasy Explorers - brave fire breathing dragons to rescue the princess from the tower; become a herald, watchman, knight, or jester and learn about medieval life.

Treasure Seekers - embark on a nautical adventure meeting fishermen and mermaids; discover pirate treasure along the way but be careful not to walk the plank.

Join all four weeks to become a Planet Guardian and receive your Badge of Honour.

The course materials are on a 4-week rotation, meaning Week 2-5 (July) are different every week and Week 6-9 (August) starts the rotation again.
Playgroup camps

Playgroup Camp

15 months to 2.5 years (accompanied by an adult)

Our play-based learning approach allows our youngest students to develop their curiosity and build early skills in a safe, comfortable environment. Through the exploration of nursery rhymes and much loved stories, students will participate in a variety of hands-on activities to develop their fine motor and gross motor skills, cognitive and language development, and through our sensory activities they will have some messy fun!

Parents can choose from 2, 3, or 5 day options per week.

This camp is different every week, so students can join for 6 consecutive weeks!
Kindergarten Preparation

Kindergarten Preparation

K1 starters (Unaccompanied)

This course is for students who will be starting K1 after the summer. Students will develop their independence and confidence in an ESF kindergarten environment, as they explore nursery rhymes and well-loved stories through a variety of hands-on learning experiences.

This camp is different every week, so students can join for up to 4 weeks!
Summer Phonics Course - Kindergarten

Summer Phonics Course - Kindergarten

Ages 4 - 6 years

This course is a great introduction to phonics but can also build on your child’s existing phonic knowledge. It is delivered in a very fun way with lots of group work and movement.
During the programme, students will learn:

· The basic letter sounds
· The principles of decoding words
· To play games in order to hear different sounds, using vowels and consonants
· To build longer phonic words
· To blend and segment the sounds and use words
· To begin the structure of writing lower and upper case sounds

One lesson per week x 4 weeks every Wednesday (option to do 2 months consecutively)
Kindergarten Preparation

Pre-Kindergarten

Ages 2 - 3 years (Unaccompanied)

Let us take your children on a summer adventure where we will immerse ourselves in a world of stories, baking, art exploration and singing.

This programme is suitable for children who turn 2 years old from July 1st, but are not eligible to join Kindergarten Preparation.

Students enrol for 2 week blocks, either 3 or 5 day options per block (2 day block also available in Wan Chai). This camp is different every week, students can join for 8 consecutive weeks!
Summer camps - Primary Preparation

Primary Preparation

P1 / Year 1 starters

This course is for kindergarten graduates who will be starting P1 after the summer. It provides a boost of skills, confidence and independence through lots of fun games, drama and activities in an ESF primary school setting.

Over the course of two weeks, students will practise a range of essential skills which will provide an important foundation to ease their transition into primary school. This includes development of their understanding of the following: up to 100 high frequency words; capital letters and simple punctuation; basic sentence structure; speaking clearly during presentations; vocabulary development through a range of medium including art projects.

**The course materials are on a 2 week rotation, meaning Weeks 2-3 are different and Weeks 4-5 start the rotation again.


**Students can enrol for 1 or 2 weeks of classes but 2 weeks is recommended.
Summer camps - Primary writing

Creative Writing

Lower Primary (6-8 years old), Upper Primary (9-11 years old)

Each week students will learn a range of techniques, vocabulary and grammar as they explore different text types.

Creative Writing: Creative juices will be flowing this week as students bring their ideas to life. Our budding writers will then present their work at the end of the week.

Summer camps - Primary Reader's Theatre

Primary Reader's Theatre

Ages 6-8 years

Reader’s Theatre is a technique to develop reading with understanding and fluency. Using a variety of scripts to practise and apply new techniques, students will:

· Become immersed in Reader’s Theatre to bring scripts to life as they work together to read and act out stories and their own writing
· Practise phonics, pronunciation and intonation through character portrayal and presentations
· Build vocabulary and creativity through their own script writing
· Be immersed in a rich, English speaking environment to build their understanding, confidence and enjoyment of the language.

This course is a great opportunity for your child to develop their English language proficiency. The carefully selected scripts give students essential practice in oral reading fluency and public speaking. The scripts also provide an opportunity for group interaction and student cooperation.

Challenge Your Creativity

Does your child want to ignite his/her imagination? Do they need something to boost their enthusiasm for learning during the holiday? Then join our lively classes where we will spark creativity through fun discussions, games and collaborative storytelling.

Upper Primary Debate -Debate & Dialogue

Ages 9-11 years

Debates are fun and engaging activities that exercise the brain to use all four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking, sometimes concurrently.

In this course, students will:
· Understand how debating works, what the rules are and how to debate effectively
· Use formal language, persuasive techniques and connectives in a speech
· Structure ideas on a given topic, using evidence and examples to enhance arguments
· Develop critical thinking, collaboration and communication skills
· Learn to express themselves confidently, coherently and assertively

This course is suitable for students who are new to debating and those who have already developed a taste for debating in their primary schools. It can also prepare them for a variety of opportunities that they will come across in their secondary schools.

This is a one week course.
Summer camps - secondary debate

Secondary Debate

Ages 11-13 years

Join us for some lively discussions this Summer in our Secondary Debate programme. Globally, elections have evolved and politicians have changed their communication tactics. What styles would students take to convey their opinion? Would it be more like Trump or Biden?

Throughout the sessions, students will have plenty of opportunity to discuss and debate a range of topics.

In Secondary Debate students will:
· Analyse language and body language from real debates such as the presidential debates
· Construct arguments using persuasive language and engaging sentence openers
· Learn about tone of voice and vocal delivery during a debate
· Enhance speaking confidence
· Practise rebuttals
· Learn how to research for a debate in an effective manner
· Practise taking notes during a debate to form the basis of another argument
· Put skills into practice with small group and class debates

This is a one week course.
Make news make sense

Make News Make Sense (11+ years)

Students will hone their 21st century skills as they delve into the news. Through text analysis, debate and discussion students will review media articles and make sense of the world around us.

Students will:
· Develop 21st century skills: Creativity, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication
· Identify language and literary devices in the media
· Respond to articles and formulate an argument
· Write a letter to the editor

This is a one week course.
ummer camps - Spanish arts and culture

Beginners Spanish - Spanish through Art and Culture

Ages 7-11 years

Join us this summer as we travel in time through the richness of Hispanic music, customs, people and colours. Each day, students will build their understanding of the language through a different component of the culture. As students become immersed in Hispanic art and culture they will develop their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Not only will this course enrich their communication skills but it will also instill a love for art and broaden their knowledge of different art techniques.

*Students can enrol for 1 or 2 weeks of classes but 2 weeks is recommended

Beginners Spanish - Spanish through Dance

Ages 7-11 years

Let Spanish music take you on a lively journey this summer. From Sevillanas to Flamenco, students will discover the language as they explore traditional music and dance. They will learn how to express themselves through movement and language immersion.

This is a one week course.

Beginners Japanese

Ages 7-10 years

This course will provide a fun foundation to the language. Through a variety of activities, including games and role play, students will be introduced to:

Alphabet (Hiragana & Katakana)
Greetings
Simple conversations and travel phrases
Japanese songs


All teachers studied in Japan and hold a JLPT Level 1 qualification (Japanese Language Proficiency Test, top-level). The course supervisor is a native Japanese teacher who previously worked in primary schools in Japan.

Three lessons per week x two 2-week modules. Each module is different so students can join for two modules (4 consecutive weeks)!

Summertime is the time to get out and get moving and with an ESF Sports Camp your child will do just that! Providing a safe and enjoyable environment for students, our enthusiastic approach combined with expert coaches with a passion for sport, enables every student to develop their skills and self-confidence in a range of activities, both as an individual and within a group or team dynamic.

Enhance motor skills through different hand-eye coordination activities.
Variety athletics and gym exercises that are suitable for children of all ages and levels using balancing bars, ball games, and more.
Develop and refine sports skills that prepare your child for football, basketball, gymnastics and more!
Interactive team-building exercises that foster team spirit.
3 - 10 years old will love our day camps that are split into separate age groups. All camps combine a range of age-appropriate activities that aim to develop a core range of skills such as very basic motor skills (running, jumping, turning, balance) through to more sophisticated game-related abilities (teamwork, speed & agility, etc.).

ESF Tigers will be delivering basketball camps to improve players' individual technical skills and to enhance their knowledge of team play fundamentals.

The sessions will comprise mini-stations covering fundamentals such as passing, shooting and dribbling and will include small-sided games and competitions to test a player's skill level.

Krav Maga (Self-Defense) Clinics

Ages 5-10 Years

Krav Maga self-defense course enables children to become aware of everyday safety issues and learn self defense techniques in relatively short amount of time. Classes are carefully adapted to match their respective age, physical and mental abilities. Through a especially designed Krav Maga training program and games/fun based activities; children are taught how to recognize common threats like bullies and kidnappers, and even dangerous situations like fire and natural disasters like earthquakes.

Hockey Clinics

Ages 5-17 Years

Hockey is offered for boys and girls aged between 5 to 17 years old covering a range of all abilities.
We will teach core fundamental skills that focus on building eye-hand coordination using age appropriate equipment .
Through the programme we will also offer an additional layer of performance level Hockey training – which will include Strength & Conditioning and Workshops. This particular curriculum will tie in to the Hong Kong Hockey Association’s player development needs.

Ages 5-17 Years

Rugby is offered for boys and girls aged between 5 to 17 years old covering a range of all abilities.
We will teach a modified form of the game which does not involve contact and focus on teaching key fundamental skills in a safe environment.
Through the programme we will also offer an additional layer of performance level rugby training – which will include Strength & Conditioning and Workshops. This particular curriculum will tie in to the Hong Kong Rugby Union’s player development needs.

The programme is designed with 3 age levels, covering different types of skills, e.g. strengthening sense of three-dimensional space, training gross and fine motor to learn the concept of balance, front & back rally, smash & in game strategy etc.

From Hip hop to Jazz Funk, ESF Sports is launching their dance programme to explore the fundamental dance moves! Students have the opportunity to understand rhythm, groove and beat so they can one day discover their own choreography!
Outdoor adventure camp

Outdoor Adventure Camp

Ages 7-11 years

2-day, 3-day or 5-day options available in Sai Kung and Mui Wo, with a bonus day in Cheung Chau.
*This is not an overnight camp, please arrange drop-off and pickup your child each day.

SAI KUNG:
2-day: Explore the beauty and natural diversity of Hoi Ha Wan marine park, learn how to stand-up paddleboard and use improvised building skills in friendly race and battle against other teams.

3-day: Go on a wilderness trek through a rocky canyon, get lost in the wild and work together on a search and rescue mission, developing key survival skills and new friendships along the way.


MUI WO/CHEUNG CHAU:
2-day: Abandon ship! Participants make their way to a remote beach where they have to develop the survival skills needed to live in the wild. On the second day, a natural obstacle course awaits them.

3-day: Embark on a coasteering challenge, go on a kayak journey, help locate and rescue an injured explorer, and work with team-mates to win the ultimate beach battle.

ESF STEM

Primary Science - Everyday Science (STEM)

Lower Primary (6-8 years old),
Upper Primary (9-11 years old)

The inventions of the future will be created by the students of today through experimentation! Using hands-on activities, our scientists will gain an understanding of how the world works as we incorporate science and engineering elements of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) each week. Students will also explore the natural world and environment around them as they have lots of hands-on fun.

Students will develop their understanding of the scientific method as they plan their investigations, make a range of text types such as observations and reports as they write up experiments. Highlights include structural engineering challenges such as building towers and bridges, safely creating slime, building a ‘robotic-like’ hand, the importance of different ‘shapes’ and much more!

Students can enrol for a total of two weeks of Science (Science A and Science B)

Carbon Crunch – Carbon Literacy, Climate Change and Carbon Offsetting

Ages 14-17 years

Students will explore the science behind climate change through an engaging mix of talks from experts and small group activities. Students will have the opportunity to use an authentic and sophisticated climate change model to understand the factors that contribute to carbon emissions and the actions needed to achieve a zero carbon economy by 2050. Students will estimate their own personal carbon footprint and play a fun and informative carbon footprint game to develop their knowledge and judgement about the carbon emissions from common activities and the emissions embodied in every-day objects.

They will write up their proposed actions as pledges and submit them for accreditation to the Carbon Literacy Project. On completion of the course and satisfactory review of the pledges, each student will receive a personal Carbon Literacy Certificate.

Carbon offsetting is a tool that can be used to compensate for carbon emissions. Student will learn about Carbon offsetting and deliver an offsetting investment proposal to their peers and the course presenters at the end of the course.
Forest School with Ms Ania

Forest School

Ages 6-8 years

Forest School is a long-term, nature-based process that takes place in a natural environment and in (almost) all weather.

Through regular sessions, children develop a deep, personal connection to nature, as well as self-esteem and skills which build up their resilience, independence, and creativity.

Sessions are play-based and child-led, and they are designed to be fun and engaging. Rather than being a one-off outdoor activity, Forest School is meant to be a series of holistic nature experiences.

Children are accompanied by a Forest School Leader who invites them to take on small and achievable tasks, and supports them in learning about risks and how to stay safe.

During the programme the children are introduced to nature-based art and games, teamwork, and den/shelter building. As we progress through the programme, they also learn to build fires, do outdoor cooking, and use tools.
Scratch Coding

Remake Classic Games With Scratch

Ages 8-10 years

Get a great introduction to programming with the new and improved version of Scratch.

Students will learn the basics of game design and character animation in a well-structured and easy-to-learn environment as they reimagine classic arcade games, such as Tetris and Flappy Bird. What’s more, they will learn to make art with code using the new code blocks in Scratch.

Master Spells and Potions With Code

Ages 8-10 years

Create your own magical experience with digital spells and potions using code!

In this course, students will build engaging experiences such as potion matching games and a witch race, and bring out their inner wizard by mixing digital potions.

A perfect place to start to learn HTML, CSS and JavaScript, students will develop a solid understanding of coding/programming languages and build skills in design and game development.

Students will create a total of 5 mini-games around the theme of magic which can be shared with family and friends.

Coding Scratch

First Steps In Coding

Ages 8-10 years

Gain an understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and get a solid head start in website development!

Using real-world technology, students will create websites and web-based applications. They will build their own coding posters, trivia games, and personalised websites.

Students will end the course with a tech portfolio of the projects they’ve created, which will act as a foundation for future projects that they build.

Roblox Coding II

3D Game Design & Development With Roblox

Ages 10-12 years

Students will use the world-famous gaming platform, Roblox Studio, to design and develop their own games. They will use programming logic like function, loops, and conditions to customize and develop an engaging story that captures the player’s interest, and design heroes that take on the interactive world.

Students will work on their game design skills and learn to think creatively about designing worlds, creating themes and setting objectives and goals, mimicking how professional developers think about game development! Students who have advanced skills will dive into more complex Lua coding to customise their games further.

At the end of the course, students can launch their games for their friends and family to enjoy.

Roblox Coding III

First Steps In Python

Ages 10-12 years

In this introductory course for beginners, students will learn the basics of coding in Python. The course will focus on learning Python syntax, structure and parameters and then use the knowledge and skills to build projects

Using the BSD Online learning platform, students will be guided through learning about Python basics like, variables, data types, conditional logic, math operators and loops. The first part of the course is designed to be self-guided with activities and practice with syntax and using the console. Then students will build a birth-date-to-now calculator and an encoder/decoder.

They will end the course with a tech portfolio of the projects they’ve created throughout the course, and will be able to use their new skills to move onto more complex projects in the future.

Remake classic games with Scratch

Design & Code Your First Game

Ages 10-12 years

With Minecraft, you can simulate magnets, circuits, a gladiator and more! Despite being a game, Minecraft is a place with absolute creative freedom.

Students will use the world-famous gaming platform, Roblox Studio, to design and develop their own games. Students will work on their game design skills and learn to think creatively about designing worlds, creating themes and setting objectives and goals, mimicking how professional developers think about game development! Students who have advanced skills will dive into more complex Lua coding to customise their games further.

First Steps In Python

Ages 10-12 years

In this introductory course for beginners, students will learn the basics of coding in Python. The course will focus on learning Python syntax, structure and parameters and then use the knowledge and skills to build projects

Using the BSD Online learning platform, students will be guided through learning about Python basics like, variables, data types, conditional logic, math operators and loops. The first part of the course is designed to be self-guided with activities and practice with syntax and using the console. Then students will build a birth-date-to-now calculator and an encoder/decoder.

They will end the course with a tech portfolio of the projects they’ve created throughout the course, and will be able to use their new skills to move onto more complex projects in the future.

Students will use Machine Learning and code to develop and train their own AI personality that can answer questions, complete requests, and chat about topics of their choice.

For aspiring technologists, this start-up course teaches students about cutting-edge new technologies to help them innovate a fresh new tech startup idea.

Starting with the fundamentals of technology, students will learn how programming works using HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Following this, students will identify a real-world problem that they would like to solve. Through design thinking activities and their newly acquired coding skills, they will design and prototype a working tech solution.
