Overview
The language camps start at 9 am and finish at noon, and children have various themes to choose from, such as Journey with Planet Guardian Adventures, Primary Reader’s Theatre & Primary Writing, Spanish through Art and Culture, Primary Science (STEM) and much more!
Multi-sports camp starts at 1 pm, and they combine a range of age-appropriate activities that aim to develop a core range of skills such as fundamental motor skills through to more sophisticated game-related abilities.
Lunch Arrangement: For students who join the Full Day Language & Sports Camp at Kowloon Junior School, South Island School and Renaissance College, they will have lunch from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. Please pack a healthy lunch snack and drinks for your child (microwave & refrigerator are not available on-site). Students will be having lunch under supervision and at a safety distance.
*All persons should bring their own bottle of water / drink to school as the water fountains will not be in use.
School Bus Service: School bus service is available for courses starting at 9am and end at 4pm at South Island School only, please click HERE for more details.
All enrolments for this bus service will need to be received by 10 am the Friday before classes begin (For week 2, the deadline is 30 June, 10 am). The exact pick-up and drop-off time to be finalised end of Friday before classes begin.

Planet Guardians Adventures
Upper Kindergarten: 5 years (Suitable for students transitioning to primary school), Primary: 6-8 years
Join our Planet Guardian Adventures for four weeks of exciting quests, meeting different people in different places each time. This course uses drama, games, story books, art to develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills whilst broadening knowledge and experiences. With four weeks of programmes to choose from, students will embark on an exciting new adventure each week to meet a range of colourful characters such as….
Animal Wranglers – beware of the wild animals we’ll meet this week and avoid their bite, snap or sting; tame the lions in the circus as we join their fun and games under the big top.
Super Heroes – create your own superhero to join the team of Planet Guardians; use your new powers to save the world.
Fantasy Explorers – brave fire breathing dragons to rescue the princess from the tower; become a herald, watchman, knight, or jester and learn about medieval life.
Treasure Seekers – embark on a nautical adventure meeting fishermen and mermaids; discover pirate treasure along the way but be careful not to walk the plank.
Join all four weeks to become a Planet Guardian and receive your Badge of Honour.
The course materials are on a 4-week rotation, meaning Week 2-4 (July) are different every week and Week 6-9 (August) starts the rotation again.
Primary Preparation
P1 / Year 1 starters
This course is for kindergarten graduates who will be starting P1 after the summer. It provides a boost of skills, confidence and independence through lots of fun games, drama and activities in an ESF primary school setting.
Over the course of two weeks, students will practise a range of essential skills which will provide an important foundation to ease their transition into primary school. This includes development of their understanding of the following: up to 100 high frequency words; capital letters and simple punctuation; basic sentence structure; speaking clearly during presentations; vocabulary development through a range of medium including art projects.
**The course materials are on a 2 week rotation, meaning Weeks 2-3 are different and Weeks 4-5 start the rotation again.
**Students can enrol for 1 or 2 weeks of classes but 2 weeks is recommended.
Primary Reader’s Theatre
Ages 6-8 Years
Reader’s Theatre is a technique to develop reading with understanding and fluency. Using a variety of scripts to practise and apply new techniques, students will:
- become immersed in Reader’s Theatre to bring scripts to life as they work together to read and act out stories and their own writing
- practise phonics, pronunciation and intonation through character portrayal and presentations
- build vocabulary and creativity through their own script writing
- be immersed in a rich, English speaking environment to build their understanding, confidence and enjoyment of the language.
This course is a great opportunity for your child to develop their English language proficiency. The carefully selected scripts give students essential practice in oral reading fluency and public speaking. The scripts also provide an opportunity for group interaction and student cooperation.

Creative Writing Week: Creative juices will be flowing as students bring their ideas to life. Our budding writers will then present their work at the end of the week. Throughout the sessions, students will learn a range of techniques, vocabulary and grammar as they unleash their imagination.

Primary Science - Everyday Science (STEM)
Lower Primary (6-8 years old), Upper Primary (9-10 years old)
The inventions of the future will be created by the students of today through experimentation! Using hands-on activities, our scientists will gain an understanding of how the world works as we incorporate science and engineering elements of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) each week. Students will also explore the natural world and environment around them as they have lots of hands-on fun.
Students will develop their understanding of the scientific method as they plan their investigations, make a range of text types such as observations and reports as they write up experiments. Highlights include structural engineering challenges such as building towers and bridges, safely creating slime, building a ‘robotic-like’ hand, the importance of different ‘shapes’ and much more!
Students can enrol for a total of two weeks of Science (Science A and Science B). We suggest:

Primary Debate
Debates are fun and engaging activities that exercise the brain to use all four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking, sometimes concurrently.
In this course, students will:
- Understand how debating works, what the rules are and how to debate effectively
- Use formal language, persuasive techniques and connectives in a speech
- Structure ideas on a given topic, using evidence and examples to enhance arguments
- Develop critical thinking, collaboration and communication skills
- Learn to express themselves confidently, coherently and assertively
This course is suitable for students who are new to debating and those who have already developed a taste for debating in their primary schools. It can also prepare them for a variety of opportunities that they will come across in their secondary schools.

Master Spells and Potions with Code
Ages 8-10 years *Class starts at 10am
Create your own magical experience with digital spells and potions using code!
In this course, students will build engaging experiences such as potion matching games and a witch race, and bring out their inner wizard by mixing digital potions.
A perfect place to start to learn HTML, CSS and JavaScript, students will develop a solid understanding of coding/programming languages and build skills in design and game development.
Students will create a total of 5 mini-games around the theme of magic which can be shared with family and friends.
First Steps in Coding
Ages 8-10 years *Class starts at 10am
Gain an understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and get a solid head start in website development!
Using real-world technology, students will create websites and web-based applications. They will build their own coding posters, trivia games, and personalized websites.
Students will end the course with a tech portfolio of the projects they’ve created, which will act as a foundation for future projects that they build.
Remake Classic Games with Scratch
Ages 8-10 years *Class starts at 10am
Get a great introduction to programming with the new and improved version of Scratch.
Students will learn the basics of game design and character animation in a well-structured and easy-to-learn environment as they reimagine classic arcade games, such as Tetris and Flappy Bird. What’s more, they will learn to make art with code using the new code blocks in Scratch.
First Steps In Python
Ages 10 years
In this introductory course for beginners, students will learn the basics of coding in Python. The course will focus on learning Python syntax, structure and parameters and then use the knowledge and skills to build projects
Using the BSD Online learning platform, students will be guided through learning about Python basics like, variables, data types, conditional logic, math operators and loops. The first part of the course is designed to be self-guided with activities and practice with syntax and using the console. Then students will build a birth-date-to-now calculator and an encoder/decoder.
They will end the course with a tech portfolio of the projects they’ve created throughout the course, and will be able to use their new skills to move onto more complex projects in the future.
Design & Code Your First Game
Ages 10 years
Want to get started on coding and also love gaming? This course is the perfect introductory experience for learning digital skills in the world of gaming and programming.
Students will learn how to plan, design, and develop their very first web-based game using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. They will pick up valuable skills along the way such as storyboard planning, designing gaming assets, and creating digital special effects.
At the end of the course, all the games created can be shared with family and friends to enjoy!
3D Game Design & Development With Roblox
Ages 10 years
Students will use the world-famous gaming platform, Roblox Studio, to design and develop their own games. They will use programming logic like function, loops, and conditions to customize and develop an engaging story that captures the player’s interest, and design heroes that take on the interactive world.
Students will work on their game design skills and learn to think creatively about designing worlds, creating themes and setting objectives and goals, mimicking how professional developers think about game development! Students who have advanced skills will dive into more complex Lua coding to customise their games further.
At the end of the course, students can launch their games for their friends and family to enjoy.
Minecraft Creator
Ages 5-8 years
Minecraft is MUCH more than just a game! In this class, we’ll challenge your child to build their own interactive 3D world. Not only will they learn how to make weapons and characters, but they’ll also learn how to visualize physics and chemistry along the way!
With Minecraft, you can simulate magnets, circuits, a gladiator and more! Despite being a game, Minecraft is a place with absolute creative freedom.
We’ll also pair up Minecraft with MakeCode, where kids can write programs to automate the construction of structures. What’s more? Kids will build circuits and game contraptions for their friends to explore!
Beginners Spanish - Spanish Through Art & Culture
Ages 7-10 Years
Join us this summer as we travel in time through the richness of Hispanic music, customs, people and colours. Each day, students will build their understanding of the language through a different component of the culture. As students become immersed in Hispanic art and culture they will develop their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Not only will this course enrich their communication skills but it will also instill a love for art and broaden their knowledge of different art techniques.

Drama Stars Creativity Camp
Ages 5 years
Combining acting, music, movement and theatre-crafts, students will study an engaging theme and become the characters of the story. There will be a filmed performance at the end of the course.
Students will:

- Perform individually and as a team
- Play fun and challenging games to build their performing skills

Multisports
Ages 5 – 10 Years
Summertime is the time to get out and get moving and with an ESF Multi-Sports Camp, your child will do just that! Providing a safe and enjoyable environment for students, our enthusiastic approach, combined with expert coaches with a passion for sport, enables every student to develop their skills and self-confidence in a range of activities, both as an individual and within a group or team dynamic.
*Wet camps (swimming session included) are available at RC and SIS, whereas Dry camps do not include any swimming session.
