My name is George Taffs. I was born on October 18 1998. My family has lived in China, Taiwan, Thailand and Hong Kong. I am of Filipino-British descent and was born in the Philippines. I am currently in Year 12 at Island School studying Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) and Applied Learning.
I have four things that I am passionate about; chocolate, theatre, technology and swimming. Let me tell you more about swimming. I started swimming when I was in Year 1. I have been swimming for 11 years now and started competing in Year 5. I love all 4 strokes, although Breaststroke is my best stroke. I have won medals and awards for swimming, including Coaches Swimmer Of The Year. However the best success for me is winning as a team.
I remember when I was younger I would be frightened of putting my head under water, which made me not want to attend swim classes. But it was my coach who have helped me overcome this to the point where I was competing confidently. Swimming has taught me essential values in life; respect, friendship, discipline, teamwork and perseverance.
I have received a lot of training from the best coaches, and at this point in my life, I would like to give back by helping children reach their best potential. Today, this is the reason why I coach.
