French and Spanish Courses
Our French and Spanish curriculum has been carefully created in order for students to fully develop and enhance their understanding of their chosen language. Both courses also aim to provide a cultural exchange experience from day one and students will gain an exciting insight into the delights of French and Spanish culture. Students will receive a course book suitable to their current level upon joining the class. Our classes are taught using a topic-based approach, using carefully chosen books, tailor-made supplementary materials and specially selected resources.
Levels
For both French and Spanish we offer two levels.
Level 1 is a beginner course and is for students who are new to either French or Spanish. The course will guide your child through the different stages of learning a new language.
Level 2 is a pre-intermediate course, for students with previous experience of the language, and enables students to build on existing knowledge and develop their awareness of the key skill areas.
Which level should I choose?
At ESF, we have a lot of students who study French and Spanish with us. We believe that it is important that students are placed in the appropriate level and therefore ask that parents and students follow our
level assessment guidelines:
Who should take the level assessment?
Students new to ESF or students who have studied with us previously, but do not automatically qualify for level 2 (to qualify for level 2 students must have completed 2 terms of the level 1 – beginner course).
After sending in your child’s application, if an assessment is required it will be emailed to you. This assessment will need to be completed by your child and returned to us to ensure that they are placed in the right level.
