Our Teaching Approach

Our teaching approach and classroom methods reflect a balance between successful traditional teaching practices and current trends in second language teaching. They have been tailored specifically to meet the needs of Hong Kong children.

So how do we achieve this? We...

  • use only English or the target language in the classroom, encouraging students to interact with each other and our native-speaking teachers.
  • use a whole-language approach, focusing on the four skill areas: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  • employ a theme-based literature approach to learning by studying a relevant and interesting topic each term through an exciting range of literature.
  • use a variety of techniques and materials to stimulate students and help them achieve their goal of communicating in English or the target language.
  • design lessons to specifically meet the needs of students.
  • provide a supportive yet challenging environment to build students' confidence in using the language.
  • limit the class size to 15 to ensure individual attention and maximum learning.
  • employ professional and highly-qualified native-speaking teachers.
  • constantly review and feedback on students' progress and at the end of each term, provide an individual report outlining students' achievements and areas for development.
  • develop partnerships with parents to help ensure the learning process continues outside the classroom.
  • provide opportunities for parents to meet with their child's teacher to discuss his or her progress and learn more about classroom activities.
