PARENT INVOLVEMENT Parent Communication
At ESF International Kindergartens, parents are informed about what their children is learning, how to help at home, how their children are progressing during the year, and how to work with the kindergarten to solve any problems their children might face. We aim to establish a close link between home and school.
For daily messages the Kindergartens operate a Communication Book (or diary) that allows parents and the class teacher to stay in touch. Special events, changes to children’s routines and family news are often noted in these communication books.
Another way we communicate with parents is through regular newsletters. These newsletters often consist of things that are happening in the kindergarten, plans for the upcoming week or month, and other information that may interest parents. All newsletters, planning, and programme information are also available via the parent login section of the kindergarten website.
Outings, excursions, workshops and parent volunteering are different ways for parents to participate in the kindergarten program and to catch up with teachers and other families.
The children’s portfolios provide a comprehensive record of the children’s progress and special memories of the time they are at kindergarten. These are regularly updated and available for sharing with families throughout the school year.
Children’s development is also shared through parent-teacher conferences and reports. Parent teacher conference is a great way for parents and teachers to discuss the child in more detail. It is an opportunity to share what the child’s experience is like at kindergarten and at home. It is also the perfect time for teachers to partner with parents to find methods that will further increase their child’s early education experience.
Please be mindful that pick-up and drop off times are not the best time to meet with teachers as that is when the children require the most attention. Teachers are happy to meet with parents by appointment.
