CURRICULUM
Overview

Learning for young children is a rewarding and enjoyable experience in which they explore, investigate, discover, create, practice, rehearse, repeat, revise, and consolidate their developing knowledge, skills and attitudes. During the foundation stage, many of these aspects of learning are brought together effectively through learning and talking"

We implement the UK Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, catering for the three to five year old age group. The curriculum is divided into six areas of learning:

Our programme is also strongly influenced by the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. It has been adjusted and extended too for the Hong Kong environment. Our specialist language is Putonghua, taught by a native speaker, and children receive regular exposure to the language.

The six areas of learning, plus Putonghua, form the basis for all our planning. Children are supported through play-based, small group activities to acquire the skills, knowledge and concepts, which are outlined in the document. Well-planned play, both indoors and outdoors, is a key way in which young children learn with enjoyment and challenge.

Through play, children can:

  • explore learning experiences that help them make sense of their world
  • practice and build up ideas, concepts and skills
  • learn control, self-regulation and understand the need for certain rules
  • take risks and make mistakes
  • think creatively and imaginatively
  • communicate with others as they investigate and solve problems

Our maximum class size is 24 with each class led by a teacher who is supported by educational assistants. Our adult to child ratio is amongst the best in Hong Kong.
