Primary Preparation English

Ages 5-6

"My daughter has made significant progress and can speak with confidence after taking the programme at Quarry Bay School, though English is her second language." - Mr. Ngan

Primary Preparation English is for K3/Year 1 students. The theme based lessons develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills by bringing stories alive to unleash creativity and imagination.

Students will build their vocabulary and practise simple sentence structures through creative arts activities and role play while integrated phonics develops their early reading and writing skills. A typical lesson will include structured play, circle time, story, songs and art which provide numerous ways for students to develop their language skills and confidence.

Students will:

  • widen their vocabulary with familiar and new topics
  • be introduced to basic grammar structures including past, present and future tenses
  • learn sentence structures to express likes/dislikes, possession and ask and answer questions
  • develop strategies for reading, and comprehending stories
  • practise handwriting and write simple sentences using punctuation
